What is this place?
This is a room outside the window of which all passes by. There is just the one window. There is a door, with a costume stand stood beside it. There are all manner of costumes.
Inside the room there is a chair, the chair is in the middle of the room and faces the window. The chair is a very ordinary one. If so inclined one could curl up in a corner away from the window, and there is a blanket there for that purpose. There may be other things in the room, but they are not really there.
There are small people various and sundry standing outside the window. They are costumed people. They are standing outside as if looking in. Sometimes they open the door and enter and somnambulate around the room as if surveying some imaginary assemblage of goods – though this is uncertain. In these cases also the blanket in the corner may be of use.
Doctor Q. Shambles has retreated herein after a lifetime abroad. He has left breadcrumbs in each of these imaginary goods. That is the only way you will find him.
